If you're looking to grab a quick sandwich during lunch, this is your place. Their deli selection is great!! The sandwiches are stacked high with meat, cheese and fresh vegetables. They also have really good soups and pre-made salads. It's usually too crowded at lunch to take advantage of the outdoor seating, so it's best to get it to go.

I LOVE Rattos for lunch--they have great salads, meats and make a great sandwich and also have a great supply of misc grains, desserts, sauces and wines to take home and make for dinner.

Ratto's International Grocer is probably the one of the older establishments in downtown Oakland (over a century old!) They carry things found in Italian delis like cold cuts, cheese, and olives, but they also carry unique dry goods from all over the world. They have an impressive variety of bulk pastas and grains, and their vinegar and olive oil selections are pretty decent.
