Dr. Irvine received both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland in May 2000. Her doctoral thesis in Biomedical Engineering described a mathematical model of the cardiac sodium channel and the action of lidocaine on the channel. Dr. Irvine then completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
