Repair, restoration and construction of guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins, and ukes, located in Portland, Oregon.
I have used Portland Fretworks for over a decade. I am a professional touring musician. They are the only people in Portland I would trust with my pre-war gibsons banjos and mandolins; they fretted my '38 F-5 and it plays better than it did seventy years ago!
I would not recommend taking an acoustic / electric with electronic problems to Fretworks.
When I took mine in, the fellow that received the guitar thought he would try a new battery. He put the new battery in upside down and when the battery wouldn't drop far enough into the battery box, he forced it and broke the battery leads.
After a couple weeks, a gal called me and said that my guitar had 3 problems, broken leads on the battery, a bad 1/4 In. output jack, and dead pre-amp / equalizer.
She tried for a few days to find replacement electronics (Electar Shadow) but called back...
This was probably 7 years ago. 1979 Stratocaster fret replacement, on a maple neck. The price was better than 12th fret.

Todd had not told me about it, but tried to clean it up and put some kind of liquid polish on the wood stain to make it look varnished. Of course, it didn't take long to wear off and get dirty.
Funny - after the refret, I took my Dillion PRS knockoff in to have him try to solve a vibrato problem - G, B strings not returning to tune. He...
Todd is a true artist! The quality of his creations are unsurpassed. While we've never purchased an instument from him his quality work wa...
These guys are tops. I took my electric in because of fret buzz. Given that it was a 1-hr round trip to get there and back home, they fixed it while I had a coffee at the great coffee shop a block and a half away. A half hour later, it was fixed and I was on my way back home. They are going to do any other guitar repairs I need in the future. Friendly, professional, and quick.
Pros
+ Super service and professionalism
Cons
- The only thing I can think of is that they're not very centrally located
Repair services, nec, nsk
