Optimal Pizza

Review Rating
Typically, when LA restaurants are the best for a brief moment, you find that they are filled with snooty staff, bad attitude and OK food with a gimic. Instead, Pizzeria Mozza is quite simply some of the best pizza you will ever taste in LA with a superlative waitstaff and huge wine selection. It's that good. Problems: very large lines for walk-ins, even during dead hours. If not, you definitely need a reservation. Hint: show up between 2:30 and 4:30 PM. Additionally there is no nearby parking and LA just made all of the nearby meters one hour, so don't count on street parking. Be prepared to use the valet. However, the food is divine and worth it. I have had the mushroom and salami pizzas and they are both great; the salads are huge and the butterscotch budino dessert is worth killing for!

Great pizza

This place is almost impossible to get into without reservations. It's informal with great pizza, salads, appetizers and bruschetta. The caponata is lovely as is the chicken liver brsuchetta. The pizza crust is bubbly and crisp.

Pizzeria Mozza isn't just a restaurant. It's an action film, a master class in the art of making pizza, a trip through Italy's wine regions and a magnet for a diverse crowd of hungry diners only Los Angeles could muster. It's the toughest reservation in town, maybe in the country right now, the place where everybody in the food world wants to eat. After months of buzz and speculation, Nancy Silverton ... more

The colorful restaurant welcomes business lunchers and late-night clubgoers with equal enthusiasm; the wine bar offers a selection of 50 Italian wines under $50. Menu items include crisp duck legs with lentils, lamb ... more

If I wanted a type of pizza by the slice I would go to Abbot Kinney or Mulberry Street Pizza. However if I wanted gourmet pizza I think Mozza has done no wrong. First off who says no to burrata. Not I Anyhow this place is small so no parties over 4 or 5 and I would say if you cant get any reservations try to just sit at the pizza bar.

Marrow at Mozza

My friend and I were lucky enough to snag two seats at the bar last Saturday after only a 10 minute wait. Immediately, my eye went to this on the menu "marrow al forno." Aahh...roasted bone marrow, served with toasted bread, roasted garlic and flaky salt. I took my little fork and broke through the thin crisp top of the marrow and scooped out some of the fatty, gelatinous interior, much like a creme ... more
