Editorial reviews from the web (5)

Brooklyn native Chris Bianco became famous for his pizza made with passion in this small establishment on Heritage Square. His wood-fired-oven thin-crust creations incorporate the finest and freshest ingredients including house-made mozzarella cheese. The brick oven was imported from Italy. Bar Bianco next door is a good place to relax with a beverage while you wait for your table.

"Huge crowds" congregate at chef-owner Chris Bianco's "legendary" Downtown pizzeria (with a newer outlet at Town & Country Mall) for "unforgettable" pies that are full of "smoky flavor" and crafted with "attention to detail"; "attentive" servers navigate the "rustic", "elbow-to-elbow" dining room, and there's a wine bar next door where you can "sip while you wait."

Pizzeria Bianco Restaurant Review

Is it too strong a statement to proclaim Chris Bianco the patron saint of pizza? Not in this town it isn't. He crafts pristine pies with farmers market produce at his modest digs in Phoenix's historic Heritage Square district. His dough seems leavened with manna from Heaven, and just as ethereal are Bianco's handmade mozzarella, wood-roasted mushrooms and fresh fennel sausage. With a menu...

When Oprah mentioned Pizzeria Bianco on her show, the wait at this no-reservation pizza joint went from about an hour to more than three—yet it didn't discourage locals. Waiting is the easy part: There's a historic home next door that owner Chris Bianco converted into a bar so folks can order marinated olives, focaccia, and other snacks while they wait. The hard part is deciding on one of the...

Historical Significance: Housed in a brick building built in 1927, Bianco's is situated in the city's historic area.

Know Before You Go: It's always packed, so its good to come early or expect to wait sometimes up to an hour or more. Located within the shadow of Bank One Ballpark, this means the restaurant is more crowded now than it was before.

While You Wait: Chris Bianco has opened a beer and wine bar in a restored craftsman house next door, a cozy place to wait for your table.
