Described as Fort Lauderdale's "small secret" by locals in the know, this property is one block in from the beach on the intracoastal. Its design recalls the colorful architecture of 18th-century British-colonial Caribbean plantations. Most rooms have views of the waterway or pool, with French doors opening to individual patios or balconies. Rooms have rattan and mahogany headboards, antique... more

The Scene This small, private hotel built in 1938 is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway. With only 23 rooms and suites, privacy is guaranteed. The lush grounds, British Colonial furnishings, original hardwood floors and 14-foot ceilings recall another era, but the luxurious amenities and personalized service are very modern. The location--within block of popular Las Olas... more

Since it has just 23 rooms, you'll... more

They are wonderfully comfortable! The decor is Victorian to the max ,and there is a story behind every antique they have expertly purchased or inherited. (Be sure to ask about the exquisite Lalique Crystal... more

From the road, the Pillars looks like just another small motel a block off the beach. Don't let that put you off, go on.. walk inside. Wow. It's like a whole nother world.

This is an exceptionally posh spot to put in anchor right on the Intracoastal Waterway, complete with boat slips if you want to come by yacht instead of car.

They have plenty of lounge chairs out by the pier and by the pool... more

I came strictly for business, but left as a friend... The beautiful victorian outside hides more antique treasures and some hightech inside. After being welcomed by the friendly folks, I enjoyed one of the comfiest beds ever. And when it came to crisis with my notebook the next morning, everyone was more then helpful. Powered by the incredible breakfast I was able to make the deal on time!... more
