Phoenician

I think they should try harder.

Review Rating
I had both brunch here and sampled their spa. The brunch was about what you'd expect. No surprises. No wows, and no bad complaints either.

Too bad it's just plain and no biggie. The hotel has a good reputation. I think they should try harder.

While newer resorts stumble over themselves to satisfy current trends, this grande dame holds fast to old-world luxury and a Reagan-era feeling of prosperity. The architecture and guest room design haven't changed much since the resort's inception in 1988—though there's certainly nothing tattered about the place. The Italianate architecture, ornate upholstered furniture, and huge marble... more

In Short Savings-and-loan financier Charles H. Keating Jr.'s dream was to build the world's biggest, most grand, most spectacular resort in history. The Phoenician was the ultimate outcome featuring more than $1 million in Native American sculptures outside, gold-leaf trimmings inside and exotic plants flown in from as far away as East Africa. In Short Just shy of spicy, Southwestern cuisine prepared by chef Michael Snokes suits most to a tee. Begin with Arizona quail stuffed with jalapeno-cheddar grits, then move on to achiote-basted salmon (served with grilled sweet potatoes and yellow pepper vinaigrette) or mesquite-honey glazed pork rib chop with grilled tomatoes and asparagus. Check out the cajeta-hot fudge sundae... more

This is in the Phoenician Resort. So expect to pay. The food is good and the surroundings are beautiful. The staff don't seem to be very satisfied with their job. Have been here many times and with each change of ownership the quality has been going down. Before I never minded paying the big bucks. Now not so much!!!

Looking for some elegance and have tea in style, this is it. You feel like your having tea with royalty. The Phoenician is very classy place. The tea and scones makes you think of England.
