The latest crown jewel in Portland's epicurean scene, Ox approaches Portland food with an Argentinian flair. While heavy on meat from the grill (Uruguayan Beef Ribeye, Lamb Shoulder Chop, Maple-Brined Pork Loin Chop), Ox also fires up the vegetables such as the Coal-Roasted Artichoke. If possible, save room for dessert.
If there is a more sure-handed grilling restaurant anywhere, with a more masterful hand at both meat and vegetables, I'm sure I don't know about it. Bring your appetite, and don't miss out on the lamb. Chef Greg Denton is a true master.
Meat lovers rejoice! This place struck a home run ~ loved the food, space, service and cocktails. No reservations but they have a great cocktail bar next door at the Atelier to keep you happy while you wait!
This widely worshipped Northeast hotspot is many things to many people—a highly evolved steakhouse, surprising source of superb plant-based dishes and allergy-friendly desserts, purveyor of exceptional cocktails, aaand, originator of some of the best, richest, most memorable chowder you will ever eat. And I eat a LOT of chowder.
From beginning to end the night was fabulous. Wait ( inevitable) for your table next door at the OX bar, then prepare for an a fabulous meal of roasted potatoes with horseradish sauce, skirt steak cooked to perfection, house-made chorizo and don't skip dessert! Oh and be sure to try the Dirty Grandma martini made with pickle juice.
The food was excellent but in general the experience was just ok. The starters arrived relatively quickly, we told the server not to hold the meal if we weren't done with the starters, we were...
Probably one of the best meals I've ever had. From the starters to the steak (like all the others I definitely recommend the skirt steak). I also highly recommend leaving space for the dessert. We...
3.5 stars rounded down. Wasn't too impressed with the steak here , personally I do like fat in my steak but I'm feeling like We got rip off on our steak with an extra 3 oz of fat. Pretty...
This is always a must stop in all my trips to Oregon. The skirt steak is heavenly, this trip I tried it with the tripe and octopus app. The appetizer was heavy and delicious. This is a winner in...
One of my new favorite restaurants in Portland. Ox is definitely a place for a special occasion. The prices are expensive for Portland, but so very worth it. I came here on my birthday and it was...
Ox is a lovely Argentinean-food inspired restaurant in the Northeast neighborhood of Portland. The restaurant is very popular among the locals for its culinary delights and warm, yet trendy and romantic atmosphere. The place serves beef and seafood delicacies just the way they are served in Argentina. They also house a collection of fine wines and heart-warming desserts. For a special treat,...

Greg & Gabby Denton raise the bar on PDX grilled meat (veg, too). Expect long waits rewarded by transcendent meals. New bar next-door offers refreshments while you wait. Don't skip dessert (try the brown butter torte)!
