Since 1952, the Old Hickory House has been smoking up the neighborhood with pork, ribs, chicken and Brunswick stew cooked over an open pit of slow-burning wood. The family Brunswick stew recipe is eight-hour country cooking at its best. You won't want to leave without sampling banana pudding for dessert. Breakfast loads up eggs, sliced barbecue pork, grits and fluffy made-from-scratch butter...
The Scene
A faux-country decorative scheme and fluorescent-lit hominess rule here, with every known shade of brown predominating. Little about the restaurant has been updated in decades,...

The meat is smoked on site. If you don't smell it before you walk in you will know it when you walk in the door. This is the real thing. The breakfast is exceptional. A local favorite.
Good at hickory house is okay. Typical chain type bbq. We'll go back for the convenience, but we have more favorite spots in town.
A good very local place. Friendly staff. Breakfast good as are lunch and dinner. Have BBQ which is good. Also have nice assortment of vegetables which I usually order and enjoy. Carpets look worn and need to be replaced.
Good bbq. Great Brunswick stew! Not a huge fan of the sauce but it's decent. Great service.

Done up in hues of brown and burgundy, Old Hickory House still retains the charm and essence of the good old backyard steakhouses. Brunswick Stew is the star here. Pork ribs, the chicken barbecue platter and beef steaks are also in the reckoning....
