My dogs love Dr. Walsh and his staff

I have been going to Oak Hill Animal Clinic for about 1 1/2 years now and I could not be happier. Dr. Walsh is very knowledgable and caring. The entire staff is very kind and helpful with all of my concerns. They are always able to fit us in their schedule, no matter how short the notice or how busy they are. My dogs are my children so I am lucky to have someone so close that I can trust with their health. I truly feel that they have the best intentions for my dogs and I would definitely recommend Dr. Walsh

Response to Cindy

Cindy fails to report that she was never present for any consultations, only her husband. He was given a full written estimate prior to scheduling any procedures or tests and was advised that a diagnosis could not be made without a biopsy. I answered all his questions at the time of the examination. This was the SAME protocol used when Cindy's husband had another tumor removed from her dog's ear the previous year. That tumor was very advanced, ulcerated, and infected as was this one. The previous one covered the entire left side of the face below the ear when they first brought her to me. The first surgery went extrmemely well with their dog making a complete recovery and the ear looked cosmetically very good. The first tumor was a non-malignant one based upon the biopsy sample submitted for histopathology. This second case was on the tip of the nose and had been present several months before presentation and turned out to be malignant. I am sorry for their loss and I would not change any of the treatment we provided. No veterinarian can look at a tumor or blood tests before surgery and tell you what type of tumer it is. It requires submission for histopathology review, which we did and was quoted in the estimate. Once I had the diagnosis I advised them it would most likely reoccur based upon our definitive diagnosis and I offered to refer them to Purdue Veterinary Oncology department for radiation treatment and possible chemotherapy to minimize the changces of recurrance. They chose not to accept the referral. I have followed this same protocol with preveious patient with the smae diagnosis in the same location and achieved a very successful outcome the the patient 1 1/2 years (this is still alive at 12 years of age). Another dog had the same type and degree of tumor on a toe. The same protochol was followed and results indicated hight chance of recurrance so a second surgery was performed. This dog is 11 years old and 9 months after surgery there is absolutely no sign of the cancer coming back. Cindy chose to not follow this recommendation. She asserts that I misdiagnosed her dog. Sadly, she is mistakened. The truth is that I correctely diagnosed her dog and she did not like the results and chose not to seek further treatment for the condition. Further treatment that could have possibly saved her dog's life. We pride ourselves in providing excellence in Veterinary care and recommend the BEST treatment for your pet. We have no control over client compliance, I wish we did. I have yet to ever meet Cindy. Her husband always brought the dog in and I always enjoyed visiting with him and taking care of their dog. In the future I recommend Cindy to go along for the examinations and get first hand information and ask her questions in person and voice her concerns beforehand. Then perhaps she can report the facts accurately. Everything we offered was explained completely and her husband signed a written authroization which also included the statement that a written estimate was given to them and fully explained to them. In the future, where ever she takes her pets, I hope that Cindy gives full disclosure of all the facts and reports fairly. This will save everyone a lot of distress and avoid confusion and the spreadiong of misinformation. Michael L. Walsh, DVM

this vet is a crook

BEWARE. I wouldnt take my worse enemies pet to this crook. They seriously mis diagnosed my dog. I understand mistakes happen but usually one would try to make amends for such an error. After performing surgery and taking my money they tell me the dog has advanced cancer and they would be happy to give us a referral to perdue. This dog is beyond saving. I bet they wouldnt treat their own animal this way. The surgery was not only useless it was cruel. He either missed the advanced cancer evidence in her labs or he just did the surgery to get the money. They have declined to make any amends for their errors. I received a lovely letter that basically said .. "thanks for the cash now go see someone who knows what they are doing". This clinic is either full of idiots or crooks. Seek another vet, and save yourself the chance that they might take you for the same ride they took us

Knowledgable, caring doctors & staff

Dr. Mike Walsh & his staff go above & beyond the average animal clinic to be sure that you & your pet are well taken care of !
They are kind, considerate, & knowledgable.
My pets are as close to me as my children are. When one of my dogs became ill, Dr. Walsh was there to give well explained options for treatment.
And I did not feel pressured or hurried !
I am very happy that Oak Hill Animal Clinic & Dr. Walsh were recommended to us by a friend !
(The clinic has state of the art digital X-ray machines so we were charged one fee for pictures.)
I highly recommend this facility !

Unfortunately, my husband and I had to let our greyhound Stoney cross over the rainbow bridge. Oak Hill was the only vet in the area who would come to our house to let him go at home with his sisters on very short notice. They have been exceptionally kind and helpful as we deal with our other greyhound's cancer. We would highly recommend them and thank them so much for all they have done for us...
