We had paid San Diego Cremation Services for my sister’s cremation and related services on 7/26/2011 but we were unable to have my sisters body cremated at that time because we had to wait for the coroner’s report to be completed.
On 11/2 we called Missy and told her that her body was release. She said they would pick her up at the coroners in El Centro, CA. on 11/3 or 11/4 but they never did. I asked them to call when she was picked up, they never did. They didn’t call to say that they were not going to pick her up. They would not return my phone calls. When Missy finally answered the phone she told me that there was snow on the mountain between San Diego and El Centro and they couldn’t go. Her body was picked up a week later and not cremated for another week. No return calls. I called and finally got to Missy on Tuesday 11/15 and she said they were going to try to fit her in on Thursday 11/17. I told her that I would be in the area on Friday 11/18 and I would like to be able to pick her up. She told me that there would be no way I could pick her up then unless I paid a $150.00 expediting charge to move her to the front of the line. We had no choice but to wait and pick her up on 11/23 the day before Thanksgiving.
After the 150 dollar slap in the face I wondered if the roads were really closed or if I was getting more run around. I checked back to past weather reports and road conditions in that area on those days and no roads were closed.
We paid for 6 death certificates in July and have not received them yet! Missy told us on 11/28 they had sent the required documents to Imperial County Vital records Dept. but I called records on 11/29 and they said that they have not received any request from them. Again we called Missy to find out exactly when they sent the death certificate request documents. Missy was not available to take the call and again no return calls as of 11/30 no return call. On 12/1 I call their office and Missy answered the phone and told me the papers were sent on 11/18 and if they haven’t received them yet they must be lost in the mail. They will stop payment on their check and start all over. Something doesn’t seem right. I think I have been getting a snow job from them for a while
Their website said that they were a member of the CFDA, California Funeral Directors Association so I complained to them. They told me that San Diego Cremation Services hasn’t been a member for over 5 years. There are standards and ethics that must be followed to be a member. Within 2 days San Diego Cremation Services has removed that statement from their website.
I have filed a complaint with the State of California.
A check of the Better Business Bureau shows that San Diego Cremation Services has an "F" rating.
I have read as many as 8 bad reviews about the
company, Missy and Ken Davidson. Some have gone through what we are now.
Think about a distraught, crying mother who has lost her daughter and care giver. Now getting threatening phone calls from her daughters creditors and she can’t prove to them that she has passed away because we still don’t have her death certificates.
My review: The worst, extremely unprofessional, irresponsible group of people I have ever dealt with. DO NOT EVER TRUST THEM. Please look elsewhere for help with your loved ones final arrangements. Ken Davidson also owns North County Cremation Services and Edenview Funeral Chapel in San Marcos, CA. Don’t risk it at these places either.
Something I read that I find interesting, the research firm TARP found that for every 1 person who voices their complaint about a company there are 26 who do not.
To be fair my review is of our experiance with San Diego Cremation Services. It looks like it is one of Ken Davidsons companies and all of the people described in the previous sad reviews must have been trained by the same jerk. Check out other reviews about his companies\r

This was the worst experience I've ever had. We had the open casket service at 9am and when we got there at 8:45am the doors were locked and no one in sight. I was soo worried they forgot and we had about 40 people just standing outside waiting for the service. Then finally, Patty, opened the door at 9am and didnt even say hi or sorry. She ran to the back and braught the body out. We had to set everything up and even had to help with moving the body. Her tone of voice and mannerisms were very rude and not what you would expect of someone who works in this buisness. When the service...
