Lime Shortage Sparks Cocktail Cost Crisis at Local Bars

Margarita-lovers, take heed: there's a citrus-related emergency unfolding that strikes right at the heart of your favorite drinking pastime. As we noted a few days ago, a dearth of limes in Mexico has driven up prices to the point where local margarita purveyors like Tacolicious are seeking alternatives. Now, Alcademics writes that the price spike has taken a case of limes from a former low of...

Updating the Bay Area Patio Heatmap: New Patios For Outdoor Dining and Drinking

A patio map in January? No, we're not crazy, but the weather this month is. If you've gone through all the stages of grief over the loss of the rainy season and finally arrived at acceptance, there's nothing left to do but enjoy the dry, sunny weather as long as it lasts. Though there aren't a slew of new patio spots open in winter, here's the absolute latest on where to eat outside in...

Joe's of Westlake Protests; Nopalito Disses HBO's "Ripoff"

DALY CITY—The employees of long-running Joe's of Westlake, which is being closed for a revamp from the Original Joe's family, aren't happy, saying they were denied severance pay or any other post-closure financial consideration. (Many have worked there for a decade or more.) They protested today outside the restaurant. [SF Business Times]

NOPA/WESTERN ADDITION—Also not thrilled: the folks at...

Pretty decent Mexican food. A bit upscale, but not intimidating. Good food. VERY limited seating, so make a reservation.

Sooo good!!!
This Mexican restaurant is not your regular neighborhood taqueria, but as a friend of mine (who comes from Mexico) says, that the food at Nopalito tastes exactly as the food in Mexico (not like all the usual 'Americanized' Mexican restaurants).
Their Carnitas is extremely good! Also the Sangria is very good....
Highly recommended!!

Now this is Mexican food done right! All of the meat was tender and expertly seasoned. My meal tasted so fresh. The tortillas were also so soft and delicious. My waiter was also so nice to me and helped with any questions I had. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated and has a pleasant aesthetic. The only critique I have is that the serving sizes weren't that big. However, it is evident...

So I focused on seafood only on my first trip starting with a brilliant tostada with marinaded trout and smashed avocado then a cerviche which was really nice.

Parking: Free parking is available in the Falletti's Plaza lot.

It can get crowded during the dinner rush, but for good reason: everything on the menu is DELICIOUS, and that includes the drinks. You can go with a classic Mexican dish like chicken enchiladas with mole poblano, or opt for something more contemporary, like pork belly tacos. As with its sister restaurant, NOPA, you can't really go wrong at Nopalito. And save room for a house-made popsicle on your way out!
