Business Description from the Web

Filled with private high-backed booths, this dark, intimate restaurant takes special pride in the exceptional freshness of their fish -- ask about the Hawaiian specials such as opakpaka and mahi mahi. The menu offers many excellent appetizers (the calamari particularly stands out) and some very good Italian-style veal and chicken dishes for those who don`t eat fish.

The floor-to-ceiling windows at this venerable Loop fish house offer a great view of the plaza's fountain and Chagall mosaic. The menu sticks to classics: clam chowder, Dover sole meuniere, several salmon preparations. Prices are exorbitant -- one Rater noted that $48 seemed a bit high for her abalone -- but Nick's gets a lot of expense-account business.

On weekdays between 4 and 7 PM you'll find happy-hour specials at this suit-filled, glass-walled space; for example, Bluepoint oysters at a buck apiece. Ahi tuna sashimi was ruby red and blissfully fresh, but the portion, about the size of a pack of gum, was lamentably small for the price. Lobster bisque was velvety, luxuriant, and perfectly complemented by a glass of medium-bodied Kim Crawford... more

In Short Casual diners hobnob in the sunny, relaxed bar and grill, while dealmakers head downstairs to the masculine formal dining room, which is festooned with swirly patterned carpet and oversized booths. Tuxedoed waiters hover attentively; a low ceiling gives the big space an intimate feel. The seafood menu highlights classic dishes like peppery Creole crab cake with citrus beurre... more

After thirty years, Nick's Fishmarket has carved its niche as the sophisticated backdrop of many a big-money deal, but those that prefer their meals without the white-linen treatment (and the hefty price tag that dangles from it) dine upstairs. Hardly the scrappy little brother you'd expect, Nick's Fishmarket Grill boasts outstanding cuisine and attentive service in laid-back casual environs.... more

A swank seafood restaurant in the spirit of luxuriant Chicago steakhouses, this is the kind of spot where they comb the crumbs off your table, refold your napkin if you flit off to the bathroom and wrap your leftovers in shiny aluminum foil sculptures. Located in a glass-encased, aquarium-style building, Nick's boasts a romantic, enchantment-under-the-sea vibe. Side-wall banquettes full of... more

The food and wine list was very good. The dover sole was outstanding! Ask for the roe to be served with the fish. My only complaint is, once you have paid the check, the wait staff ignores you.

This is the perfect place for a nice business lunch or a sit-down alternative to fast fare. Get their lobster bisque, whatever you eat! They also have excellent cocktails. Highly, highly recommended.

these comments apply to the bar upstairs. i forwarded the below statement to the management:

"I just want to report that my friends and I experienced the worst service at your restaurant today. We waited 40 minutes for nachos, after which the waitress still came empty-handed (apparently forgetting our order). When we called the manager, stocky guy with dirty blond hair, (after 50... more
