The place has really changed for the worse. The pork chops we had were waaay too salty, but my dogs really seemed to enjoy them. When I first found this place years ago on 58th and Shattuck in Berkeley, it was fantastic.

+ cornbread muffins and collard greens were great

- Overall: Food was terrible and the music was too loud
The food here is great where it reminds me of my grandmother southern dishes. If you are in the West Oakland area and you are looking for a southern mean that will bring soul to your bones Nellie's Soul food is the place to be. And if you are feel a little thumb in your foot after eater your meal the bar area has a little area where you can get your grove on.
Nellie's Soulfood Restaurant & Bar has the best soulfood it taste just like the way my mother used to prepare her meals. You can eat it and not have to add any seasonings to it, it is just that good. My favorite meal is the short ribs, greens, rice/gravy, yams, and we can not forget the cornbread, you can not have greens and no cornbread. My goodness just thinking about it makes my mouth...
