BEWARE of Muddy River Marine

I took Glen (the owner) my boat in Feburary of last year for him to rebuild my 4.3 Mercruiser motor. I paid him a $500 deposit and he told me that it would take him about 3 months to complete. 3 months came and went, and I didn't hear from him. So I called, and there was no answer. I left 4 voicemails, and didn't get a return call. I finally went up there, and he gave me the run around of "we've been busy" and things of that nature.

Fair enough, so another 3 months go by, still no contact from Glen. I call him again and it's the same story. I try to reach him for a week, and no answer or return call. Finally I have to drive over there again. This time he assured me that he had pulled the motor, and it was at the machine shop. He states that he should have it done by the end of July.

This time I let 4 months go by, and still haven't heard anything from him. Again, I call him everday for a week, and leave a voicemail each time. At this point I search the web for "Muddy River Marine", and see that he actually has a shop telephone number now. I call it (870-733-1343) and same thing, no answer. Rather than drive over there again, I decide to call him at his day job Counce Marine in Memphis. I call there, and he answers the phone and tells me that he still hasn't touch the boat, even after he told me that the motor was at the machine shop. I finally got my boat back after 11 months, and there was nothing done to it. When I asked about my $500 that I paid him up front, he said that it was for his labor, and the storage fee of my boat sitting on his lot. I'm currently taking legal action to get my money back.
