If you only go to Monty's once a year, make sure it's between mid-October through mid-May when stone crab season takes place. You can order stone crabs outside those months, but then you're eating frozen.
In Short Here, patrons leave the pretensions in the parking lot (if there's a spot), but the kids can come. They'll be happy watching the boats sail by from one of the oversized picnic tables. We went there on a Sunday night. Maybe that was the problem. We also didn't get there til 9 pm. Either way, as someone else suggested, they ADD IN an 18% gratuity automatically. So, the wait staff makes absolutely NO effort to service you. You have to flag them down to get another beer or some more ranch dressing. The food was indeed fabulous but overpriced.
They have a new "New England Clambake" special for 25$ on Wednesday nights from 6-10. You get a lobster, clams, peel and eat shrimp, potatoes, Clam chowder, and corn on the cob..its a great deal! I've been hanging out at Monty's Raw Bar for years and years. Nice outdoor venue with picnic bench seating and a view of the marina. Food is so-so and served on paper plates, but the live music and fun atmosphere make you feel like you're on vacation. Good conch chowder and fritters!
