I called to cancel my service on November 20th with my last pick up on December 7th. At that time, I asked if I would receive a refund of the remaining month of service I had already paid. I was told YES! I called again near the 20th of December and asked when the garbage can would be collected (as it was already past the time frame I had been told) and again, asked about the refund because I had not yet received a check. At that time I was told that checks were cut once a month and she did not know when that date was. I called back again today, January 7th, 2016 and was treated like a liar. I was told everyone knows they do not give refunds and that no one would have told me any differently. I absolutely do not appreciate being treated like I am lying and then having every employee deny speaking with me. They obviously have records of me calling because they read the call notes back to me.
Be careful when dealing with Modern Waste, they are not honest and do not deliver what they promise.
You MUST keep track of when you pay this company, and the period you have paid them for. They like to charge quarterly charges and then only give you service for a month. They are charging customers for 3 months of trash pickup and only picking it up for 1 month. This is a SCAM. Report them at the Better Business Bureau or call your attorney. Let's make these people reimburse every dollar to every household and put them behind bars.
Any Modern Waste customer will tell you, that if you are late on a payment, they are very quick to shut you off until you pay them. Did you know, that they rip you off when you do end up paying them? Here's how: Every 3 months, they charge $45 dollars. Now say you get shut off in November, and you renew in January. You'll pay the full price for pick up for 3 months, but it's only good up...

First, I'd like to say that until this week, I've been a customer for 23 years. Why did I quit Modern Waste Systems? Simple . . . . I want to do business with a company that wants my business....
None too happy right now. They guy came started to dump our trash and it started to downpour so he STOPPED and left our can full. I tried to call their number and it says the mailbox is FULL!
So I finally got through. My bill is past due. After 10+ years as a customer, I am disappointed they do not give a courtesy call to a long standing customer.
