Good food, horrible, horrible service
Last night, I suggested this place to a friend because I had been once and loved the food. It's very hard to find authentic Southern food in L.A., and I had a huge craving for it. So, I spent time building up the place to my friend only to end up being extremely embarrassed by what took place.
Yes, the food still tasted good, but I wasn't even able to enjoy it.
Our drinks came after our food, but that was only a very minor thing compared to what transpired next. My friend very nicely, and I want to emphasize, very nicely, told the wait staff that he had been brought the wrong food. The "manager" then came over, and my friend told him the same thing only to be snapped at and told, "You get what the server writes down!" He then grabbed my friend's plate and stormed off to the kitchen which is in open view to the dining area, and then angrily begin to "correct" the order. I think we were both just kind of in shock as we sat there. But then it got even worse. The manager then stormed over and waved the order slip in front of my friend with a "See!" as if it were our fault the order was written down wrong. My friend took the order slip to look for himself, even though it couldn't possibly have anything to with him, only to have the slip then literally snatched from his hand by the manager who then stormed off once again in a huff.
By this point, I had lost my appetite, and I felt bad for suggesting the place. The manager then came over and apologized saying he had taken out his frustrations with the staff on us. Ummm...I think customers should be the LAST people you do that, too. By this time, dinner was ruined anyway. Another staff member came over and then aplogized again saying that if we came back we'd never have to deal with him again. Uh, too late.
The correct food finally came, but at that point who could enjoy it. I have to give it to my friend though for keeping his cool so well with the situation.
