In Short This shotgun-style bar on the edge of the Castro draws mixed, but gay-leaning, crowds who have been flocking here since its 1993 karaoke makeover. I've been going to The Mint for a long time and have figured out how to have fun. I even KJ'd at the Mint a few times on early weekend days when it wasn't too crowded, so I know how it feels to be one of them. Follow these guidelines and you're golden.

(1) Give the KJ a tip when you go up to give him/her your song slip. This is actually customary in any karaoke bar. The quicker you want... more

Had a BD party there with a bunch of girlfriends- all of us karaoke virgins. Had a blast. Decent drinks and really friendly crew and clientle who seemed to know each other. Strong drinks helped to loosen the inhibitions. By end of the night we were all grabbing the mic and doing group numbers.
