The Merriam, belonging to the newly rejuvenated University of the Arts, hosts many of Broadway's top touring shows such as Chicago and Thoroughly Modern Millie , in addition to popular artists like Patti LaBelle and Barbara Cook. The Merriam is an ornate turn-of-the-20th-century hall with 1,668 seats. The theater is renovated to some degree for uses never foreseen during the vaudeville era.
