Mentor Headlands Beach State Park

There's no reason to drive all the way to the Atlantic Coast when all the sun and people-packed sand expanses you need are 15 minutes from downtown Cleveland.

I love Mentor Headlands, my son and I come up from Akron every summer with some friends. It's a beautiful beach and my son enjoys himself very much. My only issue is the walk to the beach. I would love for my son's Grandparents to come, but the walk in the sand it to long and to hard for them. I think that a boardwalk for the elderly and disabled would be an extra bonus and it would ideal so that EVERYONE can enjoy the beach.
That is my only complaint. I would love for my Dad to come and watch his Grandson play in the sand, but there is no way he could make the walk. :(

The largest beach in Ohio, lined with suit-changing shelters and concessions, provides sun worshippers with towel space, good swimming, a fantastic (scary) platform for diving and ample room for impromptu Nerf games....

We stopped one day during our family vacation and were pleasantly surprised. The beach was beautiful and great for families! I would recommend it to anyone!
