After a few pulls on a premium single-malt Scotch, you may feel like digging into haggis, a Scottish blood pudding made of lamb organs and vegetables. Keep drinking that single-malt Scotch and you might want to start fighting for the honor of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. But nobody likes to be Pict on, so calm down and enjoy the breeze rolling through the raised floor-to-ceiling windows.

You might think you've stumbled into a pub from the Old Country when you walk through MacNiven's door. Darkened woods, quiet conversation, and the sound of clinking mugs raised in toasts set the mood. The imported beer selection is impressive, thanks to more than 15 Scottish beers (many of them on tap) and around 120 different brews. A fine assortment of single malt scotches is also available. If you can't stomach the haggis, there's plenty of American fare, from burgers to chicken. Young ... more

MacNivens is one of my favorite lunch or after work stops. They have a great selection of imports, and some awesome food. Get the French Dip! Brian Miller at 09:08 AM on 10/05/07

The Veggie Haggis!

I was a recovering Scottophile until I had the vegetarian haggis, Relapse! The veggie Haggis was great a but it was the nips and tatties that brought it to sublime excellence! Soon I was planning my own Burns Supper! (On that note I am surprised that they do not have an event for Burns Day. It is like Scottish St. Patrick's, but better.) That is all I need. The burger is great as well. I love the division of the resteraunt and bar. It is wonderful in the summer when the front is opened up and you can see the sites and hear the sounds. Great summer hang out. hobohoges at 10:39 AM on 04/17/08
