Maximo's house specialty remains a fire-roasted rack of lamb, and it does not disappoint. The generous serving has a crusty, herb-flecked skin, while a spicy pepper jelly proves a more than suitable substitution for the standard mint.… Read More

Maximo's Italian Grill Restaurant Review

Occupying an artfully renovated French Quarter building, Maximo’s features semi-private, distinctive high-backed booths, and its long "dining bar" facing the open kitchen is a nice perch for solo patrons. The exposed brick walls, dramatic lighting and artwork make this one of the French Quarter’s most stylish restaurants. The house specialty is a fire-roasted rack of lamb, and it does not...

The best Italian restaurant in the Quarter, Maximo's serves roasted and grilled Northern Italian fare that won't win any awards for novelty but still satisfies that craving for meat that falls off the bone. The interior shares this agreeably unaffected quality. And even in a city as friendly as New Orleans, the staff earns plaudits for its sheer sociability. For a lark, try sitting at the bar...

Great night out

In for Jazzfest and picked one of our favorite places to catch a late dinner with friends. Maximo's never disappoints; all 4 of us had different entrées and passed around although I kind've jogged my Veal Saltimbucca. The Crawfish Diavalo was excellent as well as the Hanger Steak . One of the gals ordered two appetizers which were excellent also. We were their last seating but their staff paid...

Have eaten here many times and the food and service are always good. we arrived at about 8:30, and were seated immediately. we ordered cocktails and chatted while we ate their amazing bread. our waitress was very friendly and efficient without being all over us. i had the meatballs, which were quite good, although i thought a bit bready. my husband had the veal, which was a generous chop. the...

A downhill slide

First off, Ian, Beverage Manager and bartender with a rear gift for picking good well priced wines, was no longer in evidence. Luckily the wine list still shows evidence of his presence. Large selection by the glass. On previous trips to New Orleans, I enjoyed the flexibility. You could always get a pasta whipped up with eclectic ingredients and be confident of its competent preparation. This...

Not the best music for an Italian restaurant

We would have preferred music other than 1970's disco. Service was great.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The place was more or less deserted. The service was perfunctory and the menu items and wines overpriced.
Certainly not a place we would visit again.

Maximo’s Italian Grill is a local favorite. It is best known for the open kitchen, so the seats at the marble top grill bar are the first to be reserved. Ravioli, Spicy Crawfish Diablo, Osso Buco and Fire Roasted Scallops are favorites!
