Martin Lake Resort is a private, membership only park, nestled among the beautiful pines overlooking the crystal clear spring-fed lake which is excellent for fishing and swimming. You will experience beautiful weather year-round at the resort and be in the perfect location for all the area attractions such as casinos and Jefferson Davis' home. Open year-round.
I bought a membership in 2000. DO NOT BUY A MEMBERSHIP. The contract uses the word "in perpetuity" which means you are stuck forever paying them a "maintenance fee" of their choice. They lie when they tell you that you can sell it or cancel at anytime. They are living large off of all the people they have scammed. And they will turn you over to collections rather than let you out.
I purchased a membership for $1500 and paid two years annual dues. I only stayed there once. I cancelled my membership in writing and forfeited the membership fee. That was in 2002. Now I find they turned over my account to Bayside Recovery (collection agency) saying I owe them $1371 in back annual dues. Seems I am unable to cancel and must pay annual dues forever even though I cancelled in writing and forfeited the $1500. Now they have listed me as a collection account on my spotless credit file. Buyer beware as Martin Lake will deceive you and scam you.
The people at Martin Lake are very nice until they swindle you into becoming a member, all they want is your money and don't care how disrespectful they are to you. They claim to be a "resort" but it is nothing more than a glorified trailer park with full time residents and run down trailers. Think twice before visiting this place.
