Get your sea legs ready - the Maritime Museum is not only about ships, it is housed within floating ships in the harbor. It has five historic vessels to explore , including the fully rigged Star of India , a Clipper ship built in 1863, the Berkeley , an old San Francisco-Oakland ferry built in 1898, and the Medea , a steam ship from Scotland built in 1904. Towers of masts and billowing clouds of canvas sails make this Harbor Drive landmark so much more than a standard-issue tourist spot. Six ships comprise the museum's fleet, each with its own personality and back story. But the majestic Star of India (pictured) stands out as a jewel in San Diego's oceanfront crown. Built in 1863, she circled the globe 21 times, achieved National and State...

They add a touch of historical nostalgia as a San Diegan. It's at such a good price too to see all of those ships/ boats. Aside from all the museum exhibition in, out, and around the ships, there's also the...

The San Diego Maritime Museum is a great place to visit for kids and adults alike. They have many ships there that you can board and explore. There is even one 18th century Royal Navy Frigate thats anchored there that is amazing and takes you to a trip into the past. There is only one admission fee which allows you access to all the ships in the harbor.
