Marché Moderne Restaurant Review

Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza is a draw not only for its shopping opportunities but also for its culinary roster. Chief among them is Marché Moderne, the culmination of the illustrious careers of chefs Florent and Amelia Marneau. The sophisticated yet inviting interior features wood plank floors, high wood ceilings, cozy banquette seating, sumptuous fabrics and an exhibition kitchen. However,...

"C'est magnifique!" trumpet fans of this "expensive" "gem" in South Coast Plaza (OC's Most Popular restaurant) featuring such "exquisite" French fare – from "decadent" classics to "inventive" small plates – that "you almost want a reverse gastric banding so you can eat the entire menu"; add in a "charming" staff and "gorgeous" setting with a patio and "a view of the Christian Louboutin store...

It's a testament to chef-owners Florent and Amelia Marneau that this bistro, perched on the third floor of South Coast Plaza, has become a dining destination in spite of a location that's more...

Marché Moderne is the culmination of the careers of chef Florent Marneau and his pastry chef wife, Amelia. Finally free from decades of working corporate jobs at OC restaurants such as Pinot Provence, The Ritz-Carlton, Aubergine and Pascal, the Marneau duo has created a modern bistro to their own liking. The interior hasn’t changed much since its Troquet days, with a cozy bar, exhibition...

Excellent meal again at MM. We went this weekend because the restaurant is closing this weekend to relocate. We can't wait for it to reopen.

Marche is one of our favorite restaurants based on the quality of the food and the convenient location at South Coast Plaza. They recently announced to a larger location in Crystal Cove and that Sunday the 22nd would be there last service in there current location. We dined there on Thursday and the meal was outstanding. We ordered the scallop main course as an appetizer and it was delicious....

Tips about this business (2)

It's a testament to chef-owners Florent and Amelia Marneau that this bistro, perched on the third floor of South Coast Plaza, has become a dining destination in spite of a location that's more amenable to retail therapy than fine dining. OC denizens in need of a French food fix flock here for dishes like Alsatian tarte flambée, sweet bread torchon, duck breast, and of course, plates of charcuterie to start and artisan cheese to finish. Diners are also advised to save room for one of the seasonally inspired desserts made by Amelia, a pastry chef formerly at the Hotel de Crillon Paris and the...
