Is it a restaurant or is it a nightclub? Is it possible to be both? Marche certainly seems to think so, with its velvet-curtained entrance, designer columns and pulsing music. The clientele is hip, exuberant and well dressed, just like the restaurant itself, which is sort of a futuristic chic. The menu is classic French and features steaks, duck and lamb, along with a variety of creative...
A painting on an outside planter of a fat little Pinnochio-masked man being led around by a domme gives a sly reference to the old wild days in this theatrically themed bistro with tall pillars and hanging umbrellas. Marche is one of the pioneers on Randolph Street, but these days the menu and clientele are tamer. Don't be surprised to see post-Mag Mile shoppers tucking into pomme frites with...
The Scene
A long-standing cornerstone of the West Loop dining scene, Marche still holds sway with its clubby, urban carnival atmosphere. The tripped-out decor is a visual feast, with... Pros + great bistrotrendy crowd Cons - loud
Go to for Indian delivery! Always arrives still warm, and still delicious. My husband is not great with spicy food, so it's nice that there is an option to order everything either Mild (him), Medium (most...
This is a 'hyper-hip' place. The wonderful tables and chairs, in a
room lined with drapes and tapestries, look like they were carefully
tossed into the middle of a carpet bazaar. I don't know who decorated
this room, but they get an A+. The food is very good and somewhat
inventive. If I had to classify it I'd say American/Continental
bistro style. Service was very attentive and...
Very hip, good atmosphere/service, try the oysters
Had the best lemon-drop martini in my life while choosing food
from the menu.
Fashionable decor in this hip French-influenced restaurant
with good-tasting food.
The food is what you would expect in most normal restaurants in
France, but you would not have the funky atmosphere. Not massively
sophisticated.
Have had the following:
Ostrich appetizer, Cooked foi gras appetizer, Rack of lamb...
My experience at Marche was one of the best I have ever had at a
restaurant. Not only was the food delicious but the service
and atmosphere were over the top!!! I recommend Marche to
absolutely everyone that travels to Chicago. The trendy scene
is wonderful but not overbearing and the people are friendly and
very knowledgable. Executive Chef Michael Kornick has outdone
himself and he...
