When kids have had enough of the Strip and need to cut loose and play, head to the largest educational institution for children in the Las Vegas area: Lied Discovery Children's Museum . In Desert Discovery , kids can cast themselves as Old West miners, working the day away with gears, pullies, and buckets. When they get tired of being miners, they can turn into hard-hat-wearing construction... more

The Desert Discovery section provides opportunities for kids to appreciate wildlife and technology--here, you can hear environmental sounds such as coyotes and crickets while you operate pulleys, buckets and telephones as a quarry worker. Walk up the Science Stairway and enter the weather display, which shows the effects of temperature inversion, tornado twisters and dust devils.

We LOVE this museum! Everything is hands-on and of course kids love that! We have been several times and never get bored! They have new exhibits every month or so for the kids and crafts/art projects they can do!

This is a MUST for all families in Las Vegas! A++

Lied is the very place for fun with your kids. We are so lucky in Vegas to have this. It is a hands on museum for kids with giant building blocks, super big bubble maker, stage and costumes for kids so they can put on their own plays, playdoh, sandbox, etc.etc.My husband and I started going here even before we had kids. Make sure you check the upstairs out also.

I went here on a feild trip when I was in Kindergarten. When I turned 14, I had the privilege of working there for 5 years. I highly recommend visiting this museum! You should also check into their themed birthday parties, a bit pricey, but really fun!
