Established in 1782, this Baltimore landmark claims to be the oldest continuously operating market in the U.S. Freshly renovated in 2003, it houses more than 140 merchants, selling prepared ethnic foods (for eat-in or takeaway), seafood, produce, meats, baked goods, sweets, even freshly grated coconut. It's worth a visit. Open Monday through Saturday from 8:30am to 6pm.

This was on of the largest food malls i ever saw. Lexington market is a real treat to go to. Make sure you bring cash, as most merchants here do not take credit/debit cards. You'll find all kinds of produce, fresh fish and meats, and prepared foods. Definitely check this place out if you are visiting from out of town. There are booths for practically every kind of meal imaginable, but the specialty is seafood. It's basically the only offering in the basement. All of the merchants are local, and it's a great way to support the city. The prices are much cheaper than eating at a sit-down restaurant, and there are lots of tables available.... more
