Very rude owner. I asked him what type of chilies where in the salsa he sold and he answered sarcastically. Horrible customer service. His stuff is also over priced compared to the other vendors.

We have been visiting Leona's for 25 years, especially for the tamales. Lately they seem kind of salty but nice and hefty, spicy, chili hot, substantial tamales. It is worth visiting Leona's just because it is old, Leona will probably take your order and you can eat down by the river under the big cottonwoods …
Right next to the Sanctuario is Leona's. Chimayo is known for its fabulous chile powder and this is a great place to sample it in traditional NM cuisine. Our favorite are the red chile tamales-- YUM! If you like the flavors you can pick up some Chimayo chile powder or other assorted yummy items to take with you or have shipped.
