The place packs ‘em in like cattle. Once you get past the 16-year-old hostess in pigtails and snag a coveted table, you’ll be treated to a meal that would make any Midwest mama proud. Heaping plates of hog jowl, liver and onions, and chicken-fried steak get served up with a healthy dose of sweet potatoes, turnip greens and fried apples. But, you’re not done there, darlin’. After a 30 minute wait, we had a great experience and great food. It was definitely worth it. I loved the the pass arounds as soon as you are seated. Too much food for one sitting. Fun game room for my 10 year old.

The restaurant was crowded but the service was very prompt. The portions from the menu would have been adequate without the delicious "pass arounds" that I had never seen done this way before. I loved the "Throwed rolls". Quite satisfied with our visit.

The Extras: The "pass arounds" are free extras brought around by servers to anyone who orders from the menu. These extras range from fried okra to macaroni and tomatoes.

Fun Fact: The tradition of Lambert's "throwed rolls" was born in 1976. On a busy day, owner Norman Lambert was unable to get through the crowd to pass out rolls. When an exasperated customer ordered him to throw it, a tradition was born.
