Tasty cuisine, a long wine list and even longer bar make this trendy French bistro a hot spot for the young Hollywood crowd from the Adrien Greniers to the Ryan Goslings we hear. Later in the evening, the music gets louder and the crowd gets younger. Oh, and dont mind that older gentlewoman with bottlecap glasses screaming at the top of her lungs in a foreign accent. Thats just the owner.

French bistro w/ a twist of mediterranean--Also full tapas menu. Beer & Wine (great small international wine list) & full bar. Great neighborhood restaurant same owners & location for over 30 years. Romantic dinner for two or have a fun party. Food is very good and priced very reasonable. You can also rent the restaurant for the night and throw a big bash.

Editorial Reviews from the web

Beachwood Canyon favorite, this boisterous French bistro features a funky after-dark scene.

In Short Serious diners arrive early, before young, carefully disheveled Hollywood crowds clog the center aisle and vintage Michael Jackson hits the turntables. Loosely translated, La Poubelle means "trash bin," referring to the broad menu. Bistro dishes like pommes frites mingle with chicken marsala, shrimp scampi and farfalle. Escargot swims in garlic and butter, and salad chevre is... more

This family-run Beachwood-strip brasserie is a perfect place to grab a wicker chair on the sidewalk, order a glass of Sancerre, and pick apart the passersby (some of whom are big-name Scientologists heading to the French-chateau-like “Celebrity Centre” just across the street). The French cuisine is best on a stomach full of booze, but Sunday’s half-price wine bottles make that easy to achieve.

Recently moved to the block. La Poubelle has the best drink prices and best food that I've found in the hood. Really good Happy Hour that includes appetizers... and I just discovered that they have $6 martinis on Mondays now! I'm in.

Pros

+ fun atmosphere, patio

This restaurant is located in my neighborhood so I have given the place a few goes. what utter badness, the service sucked with servers who don't serve and you have to wait for at least 20 minutes to get a drink The servers are negative and very grumpy and when they add service to your bill, you have to wonder why!!!. The food tastes good but everything else was rubbish. What a shame....

We now live in Franklin Village. We walk the dogs by La Poubelle daily, and tried it on a late night when we first moved to the neighborhood. That night the service was courteous and fast, the food was delicious (my wife and I like over seasoning, especially garlic…you will get that here). We ordered a martini (gin-dirty and wet at $11.00 for well gin) and a beer (house $3.00 very good). The... more
