What the community has to say about La Montanara

Information about this business (1)

La Montanara is a one-of-a-kind spot in NYC and within the entire Tri-State Area for that matter because they deep-fry your pizza. Actually, it is more of a flash fry, but nonetheless you may need to ask your cardiologist if it is okay to eat here. In addition to the calorie laden pies, they have delectable arancini (rice balls) croquettes and polpettine (meatballs) of which all are deep fried....

Editorial reviews from the web (1)

New York City can never have enough pizza, but to really stand out these days, you need to offer something original and especially delectable. But how? For the Lower East Side's La Montanara, the answer came in a flash..as in a flash frier. Besides a fried pie, you can pick up golden, crisp arancino (aka rice balls) or polpettine (fried meatballs). And it keeps going with dessert—both fried pies include the Italian delicacy known as Nutella.

Great Pizza, Great Service

I thought this was just another gimmick restaurant but the pizza is actually really good and the service is great. The prices are a little high but if you are in the mood for some great pizza you should give it a try.

Their dough is lightly and quickly fried in sunflower oil, resulting in a crisp, crunchy crust that's then topped with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil, then popped into a brick oven. Wonderful. The rice balls are a treat too--try the arancino and...

Little Slice of Heaven

I have been reading good things about the deep fried pizza and it does not disappoint. I had the La Montanara pizza which is just tomatoe sauce, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil. My son and I split one and we both agree it will be worth going back again
