Help us make it rightLa Creperie is a casual French restaurant that for the past 42 yrs has been a Chicago favorite. Savory and Sweet crepes, as well as delicious soups and salads.
L’histoire Crêpes originated in Bretagne, the westernmost region of France. This region is also known for its Celtic Heritage. Many of the Arthurian legends take place in Brittany and many people still speak Brezonek or Breton. Crêpes even have their own holiday. It is called“la chandeleur” and it is celebrated on February 2nd. The crêpes are made on the round iron griddles, called Biligs...
At the same location since 1972, nestled near the corner of Clark and Diversey lies La Creperie. This cozy family-run bistro-style restaurant features casual French fare with a moderately priced menu of mostly crepes in addition to an impressive wine and beer list. The restaurant boasts a fun ambient feel with an uncontrived atmosphere, and the outdoor patio is amazing in the warmer months.
The 40-year longevity "speaks to customer approval" of this "intimate" and "enduring" Lakeview kitchen offering "reasonably priced" "classic French crêpes with high-quality ingredients" ("chocolate, chicken, whatever they are serving") plus a "good wine list to accompany them"; "decor needs updating", but service is "friendly" and it "feels like a true Paris cafe" with a "gorgeous" garden...
Germain and Sara Roignant opened this intimate cafe in 1972, never straying from the reasonably priced crepes that won them a loyal following. Onion soup, pâté, and escargot are all good starters, but the highlights here are the whole-wheat crepes -- prepared on a special grill that Germain imported from his native Brittany. Single-choice fillings include cheese, tomato, egg, or ham; tasty...
After nearly 40 years, this cozy French crepe café has remained on Clark Street, catering to locals looking to get in touch with their inner Henry Miller (or dig into killer nutella crepes). Savory crepes are hit-or-miss, supposedly ranging from coq au vin to broccoli and cheese but generally tasting like the kitchen upended a can of Campbell's Chunky Soup onto your French pancake. Instead of...
In Short
A fixture since 1972, this French spot exudes a romantic feel, with wooden tables and simple red and white plates. Onion soup gratinee is a flavorful starter, but the focus is on...
One of my favorite crepe spots. Poulet au curry and Le classique are both great dishes. The portions are favorable. The staff is friendly but I wish the locale was a bit more updated.
Had a late dinner here the other night between catching films across the street at Landmark, and Loved it.I had the Boeuf bourguignon, and my sister had the Coq au Vin. C'est Magnifique! The...
This is a nice gem of an affordable French restaurant we found on a snowy Sunday in January. They have a fireplace and mimosas! The crepe was good but had too much spinach. The baguette and jam was amazing.
This has become one of me and my girlfriend's go-to places around Lakeview (Asian Bites is another). Consistently good! The beef bourguignon and Grand Marnier were excellent! The beef very lean and tender. We keep trying new crepes and haven't been disappointed yet. The decor and ambiance makes you feel like you're in France. No need to buy airline tickets!
