"Bowling and booze" are the draws at these "funky", retro-modern alleys, rated "super-fun" for "groups" and "celebrations"; somewhat "pricey" tabs and "unpredictable" service are the downsides, but billiards, karaoke, shuffleboard and Skee-Ball provide distraction.

In a former movie theater across from the Hynes Convention Center, Kings is a popular date destination that attracts the occasional pro athlete or celebrity. It has 20 bowling lanes (4 of them private) and an eight-table billiards room. It's open Monday through Thursday 3pm to 2am and Friday through Sunday 11:30am to 2am.

If there were not a private event in the main dining area, it probably would have been better, but we got seated in the lounge with the bartender as our server, which he was too busy to manage. One meal came out 20 minutes after the rest, and getting drink refills was tough.
