Beyond the awning and contemporary two-story lobby, the hotel's modest guest rooms are exceptionally clean and feature muted tones throughout. While lacking in sophistication, most do offer kitchenettes, a rarity in downtown. The hotel is one block from Disney Concert Hall, and within walking distance of Little Tokyo, MOCA, Chinatown and Olvera Street, a Mexican-themed walk street.

The Scene With its comfy rooms and low-key service, you wouldn't think this hotel would stand out among the downtown players. Staff were polite at check in and when I was checking out, the main couple of times I interacted with them. Bedroom faced onto a central courtyard which was nice.

My experience at the Kawada Hotel in Los Angeles was okay but not all that great. The staff were courteous, and the rooms were in good shape. However, if you are looking to stay there for business, I must caution that the windows are not well insulated for sound
