Kate Mantilini

Just About Everything

Review Rating
Kate Mantilini is the perfect spot for those times when you're not quite sure what you're in the mood for. Their menu is that extensive.

Everything from frog's legs to Kate's Meat Loaf, they've got it, and it's all Delicious.

In fact I just scheduled a business networking lunch with somebody that I haven't met before, so Kate Mantilini was the perfect choice. They've got something for everybody.

The booth's are my favorite, they're large and private so you can really concentrate on the conversation and the food without being distracted by the other patrons.

See you for brunch!

Long before producers and agents were eating each other alive over the concept of "net versus gross," they were likely sharpening their incisors over Kate Mantilini's meatloaf and dry-aged T-bones.

Kate's opened in 1987 and has since become a Beverly Hills mainstay, serving everything from weekend brunch (starting at 11:00 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday) to late-night supper (Friday... more

Business Description from the Web

If you've seen the movie "Heat," you've been inside Kate's. The one scene where Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro meet takes place in this high end diner with the distinctive red neon sign on the corner of Doheny and Wilshire. The food falls firmly into the comfort category. Some people call it pricey truckstop. Whatever you call it, there's plenty to choose from--the menu is humongous!  Something... more

This is one of the few places in town where you can dine into the wee hours of the morning - the L.A. version of wee hours, that is. The food is succulent and the service is professional. The room is large, complete with extra high ceilings, and the decor is extremely elegant, in a minimalist, modern way. The main room is loud and well-lit, and the bar is really a counter affording you a view... more

The word "Heat," spelled out in neon above the door, refers to the eatery's role as a location in the 1995 movie of the same name.

Classy, casual Wilshire institution still serves Beverly Hills' prime power lunch.

In Short Deal-making ICM execs rub elbows with other industry types and well-heeled locals inside this modern take on a classy 1940s diner. Intimate booths provide privacy for some, while stools around the counter are left to newbies. A greasy spoon-meets-silver spoon menu is full of comfort foods, like chicken sandwiches on grilled rosemary bread, meat loaf and the house-specialty,... more

Dashing diner was Billy Wilder's favorite hang and Michael Mann shot that scene from Heat here. Argue it is a bust after 20 years working long hours on Wilshire and we might discreetly nod behind our agent's back. Canopied booths carry sound. Eavesdrop on Michael Bay enjoying great Cobb. If you're a king in the studio food chain, hip-hop mogul, or Dodger, you eat here. Cap dinner off with... more

If you have a problem with Gift Cards

I had a problem with expiring gift cards and took it up with the owners. If you have gift card which does not have an expiration date printed on the card, and yet they will not honor the card, remind them that the owners have promised to comply with the law, which says that expiring gift cards must have a clearly printed expiration date on the card.

Just a Glorified Diner

We were not impressed with this place at all. It was 8pm and many diners had already left but we still had to wait quite a while before hostess came. She walked us through the restaurant which was in an absolute state of mess. No excuse for that!
Waitress had a bit of an attitude and she wasn't the most helpful.
The food was ok, but the prices were way too high for this glorified diner. With... more
