Editorial reviews from the web (4)

"Hip parents with hip kids" head to this "beautiful" Brooklyn store for the kind of "adorable", "quirky" toys "you won't find elsewhere"; many of the offerings are "handcrafted" using environmentally sustainable practices, and the "friendly, welcoming" staff makes you feel as if you're in a "small museum", or at the very least a "very special shop."

The rapidly beautifying Boerum Hill was bound to have a French bistro pop up sooner or later, and if Jolie is the only one to spring up, its impressive wine list and delicious selection of entrees would keep the neighborhood satisfied just fine.

Très jolie indeed. Upbeat Boerum Hill bistro with nice flow from petite front bar to sleek dining room to leafy back yard. Serves French classics like croques monsieur and madame, diversions like steak tartare au cognac and venison with yam purée. Keep an eye on the daily specials. Good brunch option, especially on warmer days when the windows open and the light pours in.

Authentic Mexican in Brooklyn

Average Rating

We found this by chance, walking over to Smith Street from Bond and Elgin. What luck! We were hungry, but that doesn't account for the appreciation of the variety on the menu and the mixture of tradition and innovation. I stuck with the traditional Juevos Mexicanos, but my daughter took a variation of Eggs Benedict with a Mexican twist. And...

French/Mexican mash-up--why haven't I had this before? It is perfect, rich and luscious like French food, but spicy and exciting like Mexican--perfecto! Service is great, ambiance great, overall great! One of my faves in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill hood. Only downer is that they are AmEx or cash only :(.

We found this place by just strolling down the street from the hotel we were staying at. The decor was warm, inviting, and had a lovely wall mural with the restaurants concept on it. Our server wasn't friendly, and didn't smile once. We just felt him slightly hovering over us, and staring from afar. However, there was a vibrant and...

Went to Joplie's based on a recommendation from a co-worker and was not disappointed. Decor was very warm and inviting and they have an outside area where you can eat on nice nights. Service was excellent and the food very good. Had the escargot which was just like I had in Paris. I also had the steak which was cooked...

Tips about this business (3)

Where to Sit

Dine alfresco on the sizeable outdoor patio.

When to Go

Among other offerings, find eggs Benedict and corned beef hash at brunch, served 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

What to Drink

White wines are listed from fresh to aromatic and reds as light- to full-bodied. There's also a list of organics under the heading "Wine Not." Try the $24 bottle of Verget du Sud from Vaucluse; the pocketbook-friendly wine, with touches of spice and berry, holds up well to the rich fare.
