Great take-out and cafe

This specialty food store has some awesome cheese and charcuterie. They'll make you a picnic lunch for the bowl. They also have great cupcakes, desserts and homemade gelato. Best tunamelts ever!!! Reliable espresso.

Outstanding Cafe and Gourmet Food

Joans on Third is not only a gourmet food store, but it is a great cafe and caterer. There is a long shelf filled with European olive oils, sweets, crackers and condiments. Joans makes their own desserts and side salads, which you can eat on the premises or take with you. You can also get a sandwich or some fresh macaroni and cheese. There is a counter filled with imported cheese and meats, too. Joans is the perfect place to have a coffee and relax but you can also fill up a picnic basket and take off on your own. Seating is a little tight on weekends, when people go shopping on 3rd street, but Joans has a few spaces in the back of the store.

Expensive, way too. But that's probably part of the draw. Constant celebrities streaming towards cheese platters, deli salads, cupcakes, pastries. Paparazzi stationed outside. Break through, get to the burrata, the gelato, the sandwiches. Order it fresh: premade stuff an even bigger disappointment. But it's all beautiful. Joan's on Third is by far one of the better looking area restaurants, but sandwiches I've ordered there have been underwhelming. They use $1.79 baguette bread (the exact same) that I get from a shop on Fairfax. The turkey was not 'fresh oven baked' but grayish, processed, translucent and extremely salty. Take out service and counter staff don't match the food

Today proved the second of two take out order fiascoes. Last year at this time we arrived at the stipulated pick-up time to find a closed sign on the door. Persistent banging on the door produced no result and only after retreating to the back door did a staff member appear. The lasagna was there as ordered, but they could not produce the bread.
