Good, cheap, friendly place. I love their burritos.
The seating is limited, the pace is fast, and the Costa Rican fare includes items like burritos, which along with tacos, signature salsa and ceviche, go beyond the usual interpretation. But the dish to have is the pork chops with rice and beans. Other highlights include grilled skirt steak with yellow rice and pintos and pan-seared tilapia with yuca, black beans and a cabbage salad. It's...

"Fantastic" "traditional" Costa Rican food offered at "cheap" prices makes this "vegetarian-friendly" Bucktown BYO a "favorite"; an "unimpressive" building is bettered by the "cantinalike" atmosphere, a "warm" staff and "improved outdoor seating" – just note no reservations and cash-only; P.S. "try the oatmeal shake", it's "the best."
A long-lived hole in the wall that's so authentic, you could wear your flip-flops and a bathing suit to this tiny kitchen even during one of Chicago's legendary blizzards. You order about two feet away from their searing grills and wait for your food with the locals in a small cafeteria-style room. Try a humongous veggie burritos or the traditional tico plates veggie, fish or carne and don't...

Popular for takeout, the restaurant does dine-in at a handful of tables and stools. A wall mural depicts a cottage beneath palms and tree frogs. A loyal vegetarian contingent... Pros + great burritos Cons - little ambience

Food was amazing! This is legit Costa Rican food. Service is so-so. Parking is pretty easy to find and its BYOB, which make it all worth it.
The best part of our meal was the oatmeal shake. The yuka fries lacked seasoning, the steak (on both the sandwich and entree) was dry, and the fried pork was overcooked. We were in a party of 12 and this was a consistent theme (lack of flavoring and dry meats). Disappointing experience as we were really looking forward to it.

What To Drink: Milkshake flavors are funky: blackberry, guanabana, mango, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, tamarind and carrot juice. We recommend a combo of banana and oatmeal. The fruit shakes are sweet, so ask for one sans sugar.
