Business Description from the Web

With its high ceilings, spacious dining room, plush seating and plaster wall decorations, Indigo's space suggests it is from an older, more traditional age. On the other hand, its open and visible kitchen and dramatically blue lit bar are an indication of the presence of a daring spirit. This stylish restaurant does a great job of walking the line between elegance and comfort; you'll do fine in... more

Homey California cooking with creative international flourishes on a changing menu that emphasizes the grill. Seafood, particularly an oak-smoked salmon appetizer, is well-handled. Charming décor; several prix fixe options, including one that features generous pours from the award-winning wine list.

In Short This neighborhood standby was one of the first buzz-worthy Hayes Valley restaurants back before the neighborhood was a destination, and the slick blue-hued restaurant continues to win praise and awards for its seamless service and food--simple California cuisine with a focus on quality organic ingredients. In Short Tucked away in the basement of Indigo, this subterranean lounge offers a plush red - and gold-lit contrast to the industrial blues of the restaurant above. Available exclusively for private parties (with full bar and choice of appetizer menus), Crimson Lounge lives up to its name with deep red banquettes and barstools, warmed up by candlelight and a rounded, illuminated... more

Mix of Hayes Valley slackers, culturists before curtain call and suits from City Hall. Indigo hues abound, no surprise, giving the place a lunar appeal. Sister restaurant to trendy Jade Bar around the corner, serving new American cuisine like pan roasted pork tenderloin with creamy celery root puree. It's better to be seated in the front room, the smaller back room has a mildewy odor. The service is attentive, but strangely, each time the wait person would come by to fill our water glasses, he would fill the same glass of one person even though all the glasses could use a little more water. The tuna tartare was very good, especially the tangy cilantro-lime aioli served with it. There was... more

I normally don't write reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience here, I just have to share.

I first heard of this place from a friend's recommendation, then I went and searched the net for reviews and all reviews were pointing to great. So I decided to book a reservation and ever since that dinner, I've haven't been able to stop thinking about how fabulous this restaurant was.

Went for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend. Good wine selection, service was good and friendly, food was average. Nothing wow-ed me though. Tables were a little to close together, and my boyfriend couldn't get over how dirty the front windows looked! He wanted to wipe them down himself! Good meal, but not the romantic intimate dinner I invisioned.
