I can't say enough positive things about the museum. They have a truly diverse selection and it's a wonderful place to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. I recommend the tour for your first visit, just to give you the background and information about the different collections. I was required to visit the Hunter Museum while a student in Chattanooga. This was a very learning experience for me. It was my first visit to a Art museum and I really enjoyed it. There were several famous painting inside and a beautiful interior. However the sculptures in the outer gardens were my favorite. There were some really unique pieces. Not too pricy esp for local students.

What a great way to spend an afternoon. The docents have weekly training as well as a 6 week training course before conducting tours for groups. You will have someone knowledgeable about the arts, which is nice. The Hunter has also expanded and just completed the O'Keeffe exhibit.
