The name of this restaurant is enough of a mouthful to be a meal in itselfmany people shorten it to Humuhumu. Aside from its name, the restaurant has also received high acclaim for its delicious seafood and its setting. It floats on a lagoon, surrounded by tropical flowers. The signature menu item is the spiny lobster, but be forewarned: it costs a pretty penny. To anyone who is still wondering...
Dinner here is accompanied nightly by heavenly sunsets. The Polynesian-style thatch-roofed, open-air restaurant "floats" atop a saltwater lagoon. It's exotic, romantic, and well suited for special occasions. When you order, you don't have to wrestle with the restaurant's formidable name (it's Hawaii's state fish); simply tell the valet or concierge you're going to Hoo-moo-hoo-moo. Obviously,...
There’s no question that this is a seafood restaurant --- an 800,000-gallon saltwater lagoon surrounds Humuhumu --- and dinner could be swimming by. The restaurant is comprised of several Polynesian thatched-roof huts made from massive ohia logs, with wood plank flooring, while a pond is home for coral and 2,000 fish representing 50 different species. We’re partial to the appetizers, such as...
Went here for an anniversary dinner. We had a table overlooking the lagoon where we could watch the fish swimming by. The seafood is was very good - I had mahi mahi and my wife had scallops, the latter available as starter or entree. When we mentioned it was our anniversary they said both starters and dessert were on the...
If, or even if not, you are staying at The Grand Wailea Resort in Maui dinner at this restaurant is an absolute must. Located at the resort this restaurant has it all. Unbelievable sunsets, 5 star staff and service and most importantly local seafood prepared with a wonderful local touch. If you are a seafood lover this is a must.
We ate here one night during our stay at the Grand Wailea. We got a table with a magnificent view of the sunset.
The food was wonderful and the service was great. Yes it's pricey, but comparable to the other resort restaurants.
Made reservation with Open Table for 5:30. We were greeted and taken to a table right away. Had mentioned we were celebrating our 25th anniversary when we made the reservation. Wendy and Mike were fantastic. Complimentary glasses of champagne were immediately brought to our table.
We tried the herbs and greens and sesame beef appetizers and both had the mahi...
Lovely evening and diner at this restaurant. The service was good but not quite a fine dining experience. The menu choices were good, the meal was tasty and well presented; and served quickly and professionally.
We had to wait for our table despite the restaurant not appearing full and we arrived at the time of our booking. We ordered a...

Romantic and exotic, this Maui ocean side restaurant offers the most spectacular sunset views. Named after Hawaii's state fish, the Polynesian thatch roof restaurant seems to float on a million-gallon saltwater lagoon filled with ......

Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa
Referring to Hawaii's state fish, the unwieldy moniker attached to this restaurant is generally shortened to "Humu." The name, however, isn't the only thing exotic about this restaurant, which is composed of multiple, thatched pavilions drifting in a saltwater lagoon. The atmosphere is unique, and the idea that you can capture your own dinner from the waters beneath is quite remarkable. Much of...
