Probably the best value hotel in SF
This is Michael's preferred place to stay in San Francisco, because the idea of paying $300 a night for any hotel anywhere is ridiculous to him. The Milano not the Westin, but it's clean and comfortable, it has air conditioning (you'd be surprised that many SF hotels do not), and it only runs $100-$180 (depending on the season) as opposed to all of the other similarly-priced hotels which are not as nice. The TVs here are only 19" so if you like big TVs, go elsewhere. There are irons/boards and a safe in each room.
Location is good - it's right next to the Westfield shopping center and really easy to get to the cable car stop on Market if that is your thing. There is a good Thai restaurant in the lobby (opened early 2007) that is inexpensive and has a good bar, with hot bartender chicks and free peanuts, but don't eat the American breakfast there, it's horrible.
