Business Description from the Web
The unassuming exterior of the 10-story Hotel Madera gives little hint of the elegantly exotic escape that awaits you behind its doors. The atmosphere of this Home Away From Home is serene and calming; abstract, and intelligent. A modern mobile hangs from the ceiling, alive in the breeze. The registration desk is wrapped in luggage-stitched leather. A compact sitting area is furnished with...

First season pilot to younger sister Hotel Palomar but with the leopard print toned down a smidge. Plain glass façade hides indoor pizzazz. Blue, brown, gray, and gold scheme soothes any frazzled souls, makes you never want to leave a room that caters to all your favorite neurosis. Thirty second jog from Dupont Circle; five buck cab to Georgetown. A way to be in Washington quietly without...

The Hotel Madera fancies itself as a kind of pied-a-terre, or home away from home, for travelers. Judging from the look of those I saw checking in, these tend toward the earthy, backpack-carrying kind, international and American. The registration line of 4 people stretched almost to the door in the afterthought of a lobby. Tiny though it is, the lobby is worth admiring: the registration desk...

This hotel is very cozy and has a great location. It is not too far from Georgetown and in walking distance from the activity of Dupont Circle. The rooms are very cozy with a superb bed! The staff is very helpful and welcoming. Aside from the high price per night it is worth it.
I stayed here for a weekend in Oct with a girlfriend. We didnt plan on using the room much - just for sleeping and getting ready to go out The hotel is in a great location - Dupont circle's restaurants are steps away. the lobby is very small and feels a bit cramped if there's a few people waiting to...

First, thanks to all the previous reviewers. Your comments truly helped me out! Second, I'm normally a fan of big chain hotels (I'd been burned in the past by not-so-up-to-par boutique hotels), so the Madera was a stretch for me. I booked it solely on the recommendations of TripAdvisor contributors who, I must admit, managed to sway me to the...
