Hollywood Roosevelt

Historic Haunted Hotel

Review Rating
The Hollywood Roosevelt has been featured in so many movies and TV shows, you're bound to recognize it when you walk in. Mostly, it's known for tourists for the haunted mirror with Marilyn Monroe's visage and some really strange hauntings. If you go to Hollywood, The Roosevelt is a must-see. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. If you have a lot of money and want to be in the center of it, definitely spend a couple of days based here. If not, when you are passing through, grab a drink at the bar and soak up the atmosphere. Lots of stars, too!

Visit The Hollywood roosevelt. Huge comfortable lounge with cocktail and appy service. The Dakota has the best steaks in town (try the Kobe beef).

A Hollywood landmark since 1927 and a newly revamped Thompson Hotel, the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt is home to the first-ever Academy Awards and a playground for Hollywood?s brightest stars. The historical David Hockney pool and the Tropicana Bar are reopened. The popular Tropicana Bar is often the "see and be-seen" hot spot for the industry's "A-list" crowd. Access to Tropicana Bar is... more

The buzz was considerable in 2005 when Thompson Hotels took over this landmark Mediterranean-style hotel, where the first Academy Awards ceremony was held in 1929. One reason: The 300 rooms and suites were redesigned by Dodd Mitchell—L.A.'s pet designer for the last decade. The other reason: The poolside Tropicana Bar and interior club Teddy's were taken over by nightlife impresario Amanda... more

The Scene When it first rolled out the red carpet in 1927, the Roosevelt was ground zero for industry hot shots like Louis B. Mayer. The hotel hosted the first Academy Awards in 1929, threw star-studded "This is Your Life" after-parties, and counted Marilyn Monroe as a repeat visitor. Legends never disappear--apparently, they return to haunt tourist-laden hotels. Staffers have been... more

Wanna say L.A. has no culture to our faces? Errol Flynn made bathtub gin in the barbershop, Gable n' Lombard got busy in the penthouse, and Marilyn did her first commercial by the pool. Hollywood's past not only haunts the place, this is your best bet to see present stars shine as well. Forget sleeping for a night; join the jam. David Hockney's pool bottom mural at the still hot Tiki-tributary... more

Worst service and trashiest hotel in Hollywood

I have lived in LA for 5 years, always drive by this hotel, heard good things, and wondered. So when guests came from San Diego, I suggested it for its great location, so we could walk to bars and restaurants, go to Teddy's, etc. From the second we arrived, every single person on staff was rude, obnoxious, and completely unhelpful. The front desk girls literally turned up their noses at us! ... more

This is one of the premier spot to be at for NewYears. Gotta get a room by the pool though...Loads of fun without driking and driving.

this hotel is pretty old and has a lot of history behind it but also a top line location for tourists. I have used it for years in my tour and travel experience, and all tourists loved it as they can walk to the Chinese Theather and all of the Hollywood must do stuff.
