Business Description from the Web
Hodad's is the quintessential American hamburger joint. Its casual atmosphere, surfer decor, and rock music will get you there the first time. The excellent food is what will bring you back time and again. (Locals have been coming back for more than three decades!) Fresh burgers and sandwiches, including mini-burgers and grilled cheese for the kids, are the best in town. Prices for entrees...

No, it's not a flashback. The 1960s live on at this fabulously funky burger joint founded in that era: an unrepentant hippy crowd sees to it. Walls are covered with license plates, and the amiable servers with tattoos. Still, this is very much a family place, and Hodad's clientele often includes toddlers and octogenarians. Burgers are the thing, loaded with onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce,...

The word "Hodad" is a slang term used to describe a surfer "wanna-be." A hodad may own a surfboard and may even haul that board to the beach, yet never actually surfs. This joint has character, surfing character, with surfing memorabilia covering the walls and a jukebox playing appropriate tunes. Guests experience a surf dream world at this Ocean Beach establishment. For an extra treat, try...

The Attitude No shirt, no shoes, no problem.
The Ambiance Part Ocean Beach surf hippie, part malt shop of yesteryear.
License plates from around the world (like in your dad's garage) are what's working on the walls. The coveted booth fashioned from an ancient cutaway VW microbus really ties the whole room together.
The Food Burgers are huge -- be prepared to wrap your...

You know somethings good if there is a line to get in and you can smell the food all the way down the beach. Hodads is the best place for burgers in Cali. They dont let you leave hungry thats for sure. We flew 2000 miles for this place I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!
Pros
+ huge portions, on the beach, crazy atmosphere
Cons
- pepsi
Hodad's is what everyone says it is: awesome burger joint by the beach. Always packed. Loud and crazy.
I wouldn't go here on a first date, job interview, or anything like that... because it is run-down, maybe a little too laid-back, and very much a "beach bum" hang-out.
But if you don't mind the run-down atmosphere--I personally enjoyed it--then you can't beat their gigantic, delicious...
