Herbie's Vintage 72 Restaurant Review

The retro-mod décor in Herbie’s main dining space could almost have you believing you’re in a time warp. But the food and cocktail menus are completely contemporary --- for one thing, Herbie’s offers separate vegetarian and gluten-free line-ups. The classics available in the dining room, including the popular beef Wellington, are executive chef and co-owner Aaron Teitelbaum’s tweaks of dishes...

First Look: Herbie's Vintage 72

Back in 1972 Herbie Balaban opened Café Balaban, a small bar with fewer than fifty seats in the dinning room. The café served a selection of crepes, two salads and French pastries purchased from Andre’s in Clayton. Herbie expanded the venue to include a sidewalk café modeled after a spot he fell in love with in France. The restaurant and the café were decorated with his personal collection of...

I enjoyed having brunch here this past weekend. The ambiance is great; I love the French decor and the feel of sitting in the terrace space with all the windows and light. The inside dining rooms looked pretty upscale and chic. I had the huevos rancheros benedict, which was really tasty. There was just the right …

Left us drink menu s and vanished for …

I am so lucky this place is so close to my house . Go there all the time and has no disappoint . Always in love with there food . Finally met the owner , he is very nice and super friendly . I love this place.

Try the weekend brunch!. Our monthly brunch group enjoyed Herbie's for the first time recently and we were all pleasantly surprised. There was a great bloody Mary bar and a great selection of order-off-the-menu brunch choices. Service was fun and lively in a way that was reminiscent of Balaban's.

Herbie's, conveniently located in St. Louis' fashionable Central West End, serves a style of cuisine comprised of dishes with a French/American bistro inspiration. This classic fare is delivered in a variety of dining atmospheres decorated with vintage art in friendly, fun, and professional (yet unpretentious) fashion. The restaurant offers three dining areas: the Bistro, the Lounge, or the...

An additional description has been posted by the restaurant titled "New American Cuisine with Balaban's Classics."

Herbie Balaban converted what used to be Balaban’s into Herbie’s Vintage 72, an old school mantra with a modern swagger. The menu features fresh, seasonal meats, fish, and vegetables, which ensures the highest quality of all food items. The atmosphere is swanky and high class. Smoking is available in house near the bar, but the non-smoking patio seating is bright and pleasant on warm and cool...
