This little bit of Havana, or Latin America -- with its spacious barroom and 11 booths, 10 tables (linen napkins, white tablecloths under glass tops), and pink walls hung with framed prints and plastic peppers -- has been a Jacksonville institution since 1994. It's located on Atlantic Boulevard in St. Nicholas.

One of the reasons I love this place is that it takes something "exotic" (Cuban food) and presents it like gourmet home cooking/comfort food. It's different and familiar all at the same time. From the delicious old standby, a Cuban sandwich, to more fancy fare, it's all delicious. My personal fave is the "Chicken fricassee" with potatoes and olives - I'm craving it right now.
