"Delish fish" sliced in "large" pieces is the hook at this stylish Japanese mini-chain where the "premium" sushi "won't break the budget"; it may be "a bit of a factory" and "blasting music" puts it high on the "decibel meter", but its "young, vibrant" following doesn't seem to mind.

The original Haru, opened in 1996 on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Haru Amsterdam is not only one of the longest standing establishments in the neighborhood’s ‘restaurant row,’ but one of the pioneers of Japanese cuisine in New York. Serving both lifelong Upper West Siders and residents new to the area, this local legend has earned its place by continuing to offer great food and great service at...

Haru Restaurant Review

These stylish sushi spots are usually packed, there's often a wait and the din is formidable. There's good reason, though, for the commotion: the seafood is among the freshest and best in town. And, of course, there's a grand variety of seasonally changing sushi and sashimi that may include striped bass, salmon caviar and Spanish mackerel. Reliable if rushed; Sun Tzu-quoting biz-boy types like to show off their Japanese pronunciation at this blond-wood haven. Hefty slabs of maki and tako perpetually pack the place with faithful regulars. Limited other raw fish options in this neck of the woods make waits inevitable.

An Upper West Side outpost of a Manhattan sushi mini-chain.

Consistent and very fresh! Both at the restaurant and with delivery! Can't go wrong with any of their rolls really & I'm a fan of their noodle soup (I add some red pepper flakes to it though!)

Definitely a great option to order sushi in the UWS -- have done so many times and I've yet to be disappointed!

I was a little disappointed by Haru. My partner and I ordered a pickup, and while it was quick, they sushi really lacked substance. Salmon avocado were tiny pieces, and my girlfriend asked to add...
